Letztes Wochenende konnten wir wieder ein seltenes Tier als 'gespottet' abhaken, den Echidna (Ameisenigel).
Auf dem Weg in den Walyunga National Park im Swan Valley ca. 40min von Perth entfernt kroch etwas stacheliches ueber die Fahrbahn. Glueklicherweise hat das Auto vor uns auch den Echidna gesehen, also war es Foto Session auf der Strasse.
Nur wollte sich der Echidna keinen Zentimeter mehr bewegen, also habe ich die Rettungsaktion begonnen. Mit Einkaufstueten bewaffnet habe ich den Stacheligel umgedreht sodass er sich zusammenrollen konnte. So gross wie ein Fussball war der und ne natte Nase hatte er oder sie auch, und grosse Krallen. War schon ein stacheliches Gefuehl, aber alles ist gut gegangen und der Echidna war wieder im Wald auf der anderen Strassenseite. Ein Ranger kam durch Zufall vorbei und hat uns auf typisch Australisch bedankt "Good on you Mates".
Danach sind wir 4-5km gewandert und haben ein Picknick gemacht mit unseren Freunden. Am Ende sind wir noch zum Lamonts Weingut gefahren, einer unser Lieblingsplaetze fuer Lunch im Swan Valley.
Last weekend we have spotted another rare Australian animal, the Echidna. We were searching so many times for it, but had no luck so far. And now, there was the Echidna in all its beauty crossing the street to Walyunga National Park in the Swan Valley ~40min north of Perth. Luckily the car before us spotted the Echidna as well, so we all stopped and had a foto session. But that beast did not move a single centimeter anymore. It had to be rescued from the many cars to come. I (Jens) did use all shopping bags we had to get the Echidna to fold to all ball. He or she was really heavy, at least 5kg. I brought the Echidna in the forest and a Ranger who stopped by thanked us in Aussie style 'Good on you Mates".
After that we had a nice 4-5km hike through the forest and a picknick with our friends and kids. We spotted a Wallabi, and a few Black Cockatoos and many wild flowers. 23 degrees was the perfect hiking weather.
We finished the day at Lamonts Winery in the Swan Valley, one of our favourite lunch places.
