Paying for something you won't have nor see or enjoy: Carbon Tax

All the headlines on each newspaper, every news program is full of it. Julia's Gillard's (a Jodie Foster look-a-like) Carbon Tax. Most people in Western Australia (WA) are very sceptical about this measure; will it make a difference?, will it solve anything?. For sure it will make living more expensive and life over in WA is not what you will call cheap. So of course people are resistant to the idea of paying for something that they/we will not profit from. I believe it's a mankind thing to always think "what's in it for me?".
And while we down here struggle with this dilemma, Europe fights to maintain the Euro. European destinations have never been so popular before for Australians. Reason? There is something in it for the Australians: The Australian dollar is not at all intimidated by the Euro. So with the situation like this, Australians get more for their money in Europe.  It has become cheaper to fly up to Europe. Finally....but maybe not for long. Julia's Carbon Tax Scheme probably will lead to higher ticket prices. And just at the moment that Jens is starting to travel around in Australia. Lucky him, the University will pay his ticket! But what about me? Can I still afford to join him on the trips?
So if I could choose, would I say no to the Carbon Tax...hmmm??
I am so happy it's not a choice. One thing less to think about.
